Lombardy estimated 0.07% to 0.2% for the younger generations. So for them, it’s somewhere between as lethal as the second-largest epidemic in modern times in the UK (89’ flu) or as both Asian flu and Hong Kong flu pandemics in one (0.1% IFR each) — and you have to remember that those IFR’s for the flus were skewed higher by the elderly; so it’s not quite a mild virus even for young people.
What is also important to remember is the hospitalization rate. For example, in Italy’s healthcare staff, 3.3% (I believe it was .3%) of those infected required hospitalization — and this is where the danger with this truly lies. If hospitals are breached then we can and will see the IFR shoot up. It might be possible that provided a younger percentage of the population is infected and contact tracing is successful, we will see a low IFR like the CFR in Iceland — but I don’t think we can attempt to live with this like an ordinary flu even if we isolated our elderly + risk groups successfully.
