Hej alla, hello all,
I'm seeking person/people who are interested in improving his/her Russian pronunciation and to help me with my Swedish pronunciation.

I'm not a teacher, so I suppose to make something like reading text aloud and a partner should control and comment pronunciation.

My Swedish is approximately at pre-intermediate level, so we could use English as a common language.

Also I'm interested to improve writing abilities. For example, it seems possible to us to translate some English text like news stories to Russian/Swedish and a partner could have checked mistakes and suggest the better words using/collocations.

I will in Sto July 18-27 if you want to see me and speak to me interactively but my visit program is concentrated on zoos, children places and Stockholm islands. And bookstores like Myrorna where I buy English and Swedish pocket books. (I can deliver several Russian used pocket books to you to exchange for something Swedish/English/German. I prefer bestsellers to be able to download translation if it bacomes too difficult to read or books for children which are easy to understand).

I expect that my language partner(s)
- have time to speak to me up to 2-3 times a week
- is/are keen enough on grammar terms (to be able to differ noun from a verb , gerund and so on not to slow down communication)

Currently I don't have any Svenska phone number so I'm planning to it in my Flashback profile just I'll buy a sim card.

Hmm, sorry if I should have posted this message on the language exchange forums.

First of all, I am not the person you are looking for. I'm just trying to make a discussion of this thread.

But do you live in Russia and study Swedish, and how come you made up your mind for such a small language? It's not like French or Spanish which you can use in South America or Africa. I don't know how much Swedish you are able to understand, but there is a Brazilian guy at this forum who also learns Swedish, but living in Brazil.

But do you live in Russia and study Swedish, and how come you made up your mind for such a small language? .

Swedish is similar to German and English as I think. Who knows Swedish can travel and speak to citizens of Norway and Danmark most of who understand it imho.

Hmmm, what do you think about Russia? It's country where most of people don't know other languages and are not going to learn one. It's like an imperian tradition. Let's foreigners learn Russian, think they.
Russians usually learn languages if they are working for americn or europian country, if they are planning a career. All English native speakers, who are teachers in Russia, are amazed with this fact. No one understand us, we are happy here at the schools with our pupils - they say.

'Varför läser du svenska?' 'Jag är interesserad' (c) författarna 'svenska utifrån' eller 'på svenska'

And it's absolutely normal to know one or more foreign languages in Europe.
Why do I learn Swedish, English, Deutsch? I answer so I want to live several years in Europe, in Germany, in Sweden, in a country with similar language. To change environment and to get a new experience. Can you imagine which experience will have my child visiting Swedish or German kindergarten for 1-2 years? Very good experience meeting people.
We have a flat and a car, a good job and some money but we are slighly bored with our environment.
Can you imagine all videos are translated to Russian, all books are translated. Buying a book in German is a big problem if you don't want read all of Agatha Christie English books are too rare and you cannot buy your favorite sci-fi books, for example. Too bored. Budies say 'Stop learning, let's thing be untouchable, let's meet and drink, let's rest, nobody knows Eng (De, Sw) and yoг don't need...'.

Ufff, stop spamming...

Nothing strange, I've heard of lots of russians who study swedish. I even knew one who studied in Russia and later went to study geology at a university here.

We selected one language to learn. Finnish is too comlicated in vocabulary, French is too complicated in pronncaition as we think. Spanish? Too long flight to practice and child will disturb all passengers. Italian? Hmmm, no. East europian? Too close to Russian. Est, Lv, Lt? Former Russian colonies, there are a lot of Russians, too bored. Swedish? Ooo, something new.

People on the Russian travel forums in Scandinavian topics name your language 'Scandinavian language'

'Why?' 'We cannot differ Sw-No-Den-Fi we don't understand all of them'
So we started to learn Swedish. And it's better choise than Greek do you think? Ten millions of Swedish speakers versus eleven millions of Greek speakers, but which is simplier to learn?

Alright, I get it. You study Swedish only to do something different and for the experience.

But Sweden is a great country, but the more you read about Sweden at this forum, the more you'll know how bored out Swedish people are. In Sweden we whine about those taxes and how boring Swedish people are, but I don't know how those wimps would be able to get free medical care and education without the taxes.

But we are Swedish, it's our nature to castigate our country and ourselves. You'll find out more about that when you get here.

Someday I would like to learn to speak Russian. It seems like an interesting and vast country with loads of tradition that foreigners dont get to experience. However, I neither live close to Stockholm, nor do I know any Russian at all for the time being. Good luck with your Swedish though!

Just a word of advice: do not give out your phone number here at Flashback. That is a bad idea.

10 år har gått liksom...
Var är du loretta? Hoppas att allting är bra med dig nu och du pratar svenska flytande. Därför går jag över till svenska och ber om ursäkt för att jag lånar din tråd...

Bumpar denna gamla tråd och undrar egentligen om någon fortfarande är intresserad av det som står i rubriken?
