The evidence for Jesus' existence can be found from many sources - many of them non-Christian:
-Jesus and his crucifixion is recorded by Josephus, the Jewish historian.

-Pliny the Younger wrote in AD 111 to Trajan about the rapid spread of Christianity in Asia Minor. He mentions that Christians worshipped Jesus as if he were God, forsaking worship of the Roman emperor to do so.
-Tacitus, the great Roman historian and scribe, who wrote in AD 115 concerning the burning of Rome in AD 64, maintains that Christ had attracted a sufficient number of followers by AD 64 to make them a suitable scapegoat for the burning of Rome. These followers were named 'Christians' after him. He also mentions that Christ had been condemned by Pilate.

-Suetonius, writing in AD 120, writes of 'Chrestus' being the founder of a distinctive sect within Judaism and refers to Chrestus as being behind the rioting at Rome. 'Christus' was still an unfamiliar name to Romans at this time, wheras 'Chrestus' was a common name for slaves. Even in the third and fourth centuries Christian writers were still complaining about the fact that people mis-spelt Christus as Chrestus.
-Justin Martyr, writing in approximately AD 150, informs emperor Antonius Pius of the fulfillment of Psalm 22:16.

-The early church itself, for which there is overwhelming evidence, is further evidence that Jesus existed at around the time the Bible alludes to.
-No respected historian (and there have been many to look at the evidence), Christian or non-Christian, has ever seriously come to any other conclusion than that Jesus was an actual historical figure.
If what you're looking for is proof positive that Jesus Christ lived and breathed--e.g., library card, baby pictures, etc.--you're out of luck. The big guy left no written records, and no accounts of his life were written while he was still alive. The earliest Gospels date from maybe 70 AD, 40 years after his demise.
Still, barring an actual conspiracy, 40 years is too short a time for an entirely mythical Christ to have been fabricated out of (heh-heh) whole cloth. Certainly the non-Christians who wrote about him in the years following his putative death did not doubt he had once lived. The Roman historian Tacitus, writing in his Annals around 110 AD, mentions one "Christ, whom the procurator Pontius Pilate had executed in the reign of Tiberius." The Jewish historian Josephus remarks on the stoning of "James, the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ." The Talmud, a collection of Jewish writings, also refers to Christ, although it says he was the illegitimate son of a Roman soldier called Panther. Doubts about the historicity of Christ did not surface until the 18th century. In short, whether or not JC was truly the Son of God, he was probably the son of somebody.
Men OK då.
