JEWISH and Aboriginal leaders have come together to protest against racism on Facebook.

The Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) and Aboriginal Medical Service have lodged a formal complaint with the Australian Human Rights Commission regarding “Aboriginal memes” and “Jewish memes” pages posted on the social networking site.

Jewish groups told The Times of Israel they were outraged by the phenomenon, and the Simon Wiesenthal Center said it would seek to have the symbol barred from Twitter. [...]

“This is an example of the power and scope of social media,” Efraim Zuroff, the director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Israel office, said on Tuesday. “It becomes a very dangerous thing when it comes to anti-Semitism.”

Zuroff said the swastika was offensive and “universally acknowledged as a Nazi symbol” and “if anything should be removed from Twitter, it is this.” He said the organization’s US office would pursue the matter.

“The fact that it is now trending on Twitter is outrageous, and a sad reminder of how we need to continue to educate young people about the history and meaning of Nazi symbols and why they are so hurtful,” Abraham H. Foxman, the national director of the Anti-Defamation League, told The Times of Israel.

The Czech Bar Association reportedly has banned a lawyer temporarily who cited the Jewishness of a witness in a motion to disqualify his testimony.

Petr Koci said his motion, which was rejected, was the wish of his client, a far-right activist, according to a report on the case in the Prague Post.

Iva Chaloupkova, the bar’s spokesperson, told journalists of Koci’s one-year removal from the association on Oct. 10, according to the paper, which added the disbarment is pending Koci’s appeal.

"According to the association’s disciplinary panel, Koci claimed that the expert was biased on the grounds of his ethnic origin, which is quite unacceptable," Chaloupkova is quoted as saying. The association rejected Koci's argument that he had to respect his client's instruction.

"A lawyer must obey legal regulations in the first place and only within them a client's instructions," Chaloupkova said.

Koci was representing Lucie Slegrova, a member of the far-right Workers' Party of Social Justice, or DSSS, at her trial in Most, north Bohemia. Koci said the court expert, Michal Mazel, could not assess his client objectively because she was Jewish.

Slegrova was prosecuted over public statements she made at a DSSS rally in 2010. Mazel concluded that she promoted Nazism and anti-Semitism in her speech.

Koci and Slegrova inferred Mazel's origin from his surname, which they claimed derives from the Hebrew name Moshe.

"As a person of Jewish origin, the expert certainly perceives very sensitively the question of the Shoah (Holocaust) and the German National Socialism," Koci wrote in his objection.

A French nonprofit said it was considering making complaints against some Twitter users following an explosion of French-language anti-Semitic messages.

SOS Racisme, a Paris-based anti-discrimination organization, made the statement on its website after the phrase UnBonJuif on Oct. 10 became the third most popular hashtag among French Twitter users.

Literally meaning “a good Jew,” it served thousands of Twitter users to enter what the French daily Le Monde termed “a competition of anti-Semitic jokes.”

One Twitter account registered to the username “Marcel Leblanc” posted a picture of an emaciated Jewish woman taken in a Nazi concentration camp as his or her interpretation of what "a good Jew" meant. Others tweeted that “a good Jew is a dead Jew.”

Jonathan Hayoun, president of the Union of French Jewish Students, or UEJF, called on Twitter to “put in place a new system to moderate” anti-Semitic tweets. His organization expressed “grave concern” in light of how popular the hashtag has become.

British Home Secretary Michael Howard has come under fire from Jewish leaders for declining to join his European Union counterparts in declaring Holocaust denial a criminal offense in each of their countries.

Howard's refusal last week at a E.U. meeting in Brussels to seek a British law against Holocaust denial brought a strong response from the Jewish Board of Deputies, which said in a statement that it "deeply regretted" his decision.

Arthur Topham, publisher of the Radical Press website, was arrested on May 16, 2012, at 11:30 am on the Barkerville Highway near Quesnel, B.C., put in handcuffs and taken to jail. Apparently, Arthur’s home had been staked out for quite some time by the RCMP.

The warrant for his arrest read “commission of hate crimes” and was endorsed by Arthur’s special “friends” and professional denunciators Richard Warman and Harry Abrams of B’nai Brith, Canada.

What the Canadian Hate Crimes Tribunal failed to do, seems to have been a cinch for Richard and Harry, law or no law. In Canada, when B’nai Brith whistles, the RCMP jumps.

While in jail, Arthur’s house was raided and his computer equipment confiscated, including all his files. During the raid, Shasta, Arthur’s wife, wasn’t allowed into her home for 9 hours. Once the RCMP had taken what they wanted — we wonder where the bugs are now hidden — and finished questioning Arthur, he was released at 11:00 pm.

Arthur is now back home again, but prohibited from sending ANY emails or expressing any opinions about the issues all too familiar to us.

Even though he has yet to be formally charged with the phony ‘crime’ of which he stands accused, the dedicated servants of Zion at the RCMP have barred him from publishing any further articles or essays on his website.

Five men and a 15-year-old youth have been arrested in East Renfrewshire and Glasgow after anti-Semitic remarks were posted on social network site Facebook.

Almost 50 police officers raided seven addresses after complaints from members of the Jewish community in Giffnock. [...]

The Community Security Trust (CST), which helps protect the Jewish community in the UK, said: “CST welcomes the arrests of suspects regarding alleged anti-Semitic statements.

Antony Lerman, founder and former director of the Institute for Jewish Policy Research (JPR), told The Electronic Intifada that CST volunteers had in the past received self-defense training from Mossad, Israel’s overseas spy agency.
