Hur smakar säl?
Jag har själv aldrig ätit. Rimligtvis borde olika sorters säl smaka olika, även beroende på hur den förbereds. Men genom kortare googling så fann jag detta:.
Citat:
"I had seal loin at a restaurant and it was fantastic. Pan seared to rare, almost blue. The flesh is very dark, darker than venison, almost black. It tastes fishy and gamey. That was the first time I've had it and really enjoyed it."

Seal is delicious. Yeah, it’s a bit rich and a bit fishy but if prepared correctly it’s awesome. You’re never going to replace a steak from beef or a pork chop or whatever other “normal” cut with seal and expect it to be interchangeable. Personally though I’d choose seal over beef myself.
Citat:
Grew up on it living in St. John’s, Newfoundland. I’m not a native. I’ve eaten it mostly in the spring of the year while the hunt was on. Usually have it as seal flipper pie. When prepared properly it is delicious but it has an oily game-like taste that will not appeal to all. It is an acquired taste. I personally enjoy it but it will be a hard sell to the masses.

I had seal flipper pie in a Newfoundland restaurant and it was like a beef pot pie. I didn't find the meat fishy, though it was gamey and very dark in colour. I'd eat it again, but if I never ate it again, I wouldn't be upset either.
