TASS rapporterar att Slovenien menar att Ryssland måste vara med i förhandlingarna om det ska ge något. Man antyder att stämningen ändras i det pro Ukrainska ledet.

"Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob told the Russian side "through channels of quiet diplomacy" that Ljubljana does not imagine peaceful talks on Ukraine without Moscow's participation, the Delo newspaper reported with reference to diplomatic sources.

According to them, those advisers in Golob's entourage who openly hold anti-Russian and pro-American views are now "losing weight" in shaping policy toward Russia and the Ukrainian conflict."

Jungel Josep visar upp sin analytiska förmåga och meddelar via ett reportage i 20 Minutos i Spanien som TASS refererar till att utan stöd från väst faller Ukraina på 15 dagar och Putin når då sina krigsmål.

"High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell believes that the conflict in Ukraine would end in 15 days without Western support for Kiev.

"Many want the war to end as soon as possible," he said in an interview with Spanish newspaper 20 Minutos. "If we stop supporting Ukraine, the war will be over in 15 days and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin will achieve his goals." "But do we want that for the Ukrainians and for our own safety, for the Europeans?" Borrell added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously emphasized that supplying Ukraine with new weapons would not change the situation on the front, but wound rather lead to protracting the conflict."

TASS rapporterar om att kontrakten för att för gas igenom Ukraina snart upphör och det kan leda till stora konsekvenser för Ukraina och också EU, som dock just nu har 95% fyllda lager. Kanske dags för Jungle Josep att agera diplomat?

"Termination of Russian gas supplies to Europe via Ukraine after 2024 in view of expiration of the bilateral contract may create risks for fuel supplies to Ukraine, Mario Holzner, the Director of the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies, told The Financial Times.

"Europe will start the winter with its gas storage [units] pretty much full, but a cut-off by Ukraine would clearly create more of a problem for the landlocked countries of central Europe," Holzner said, cited by the news outlet.

"It’s also a risky decision for Ukraine," he noted. Further to the loss of transit fees, the pipeline shutdown could "even threaten Ukraine’s own gas supply if its pipeline infrastructure becomes a target," the director added.

The International Energy Agency earlier highlighted the significant risk for the full stop of Russian gas supplies to Europe via Ukraine after 2024, because the gas transit contract between the two countries expires at the turn of this year."

Sputnik skriver om att Rysslands utrikesminister menar att väst leker med elden och att man inte vill ha fred egentligen. Han radar upp hinder för eventuella förhandlingar och Rysslands krav för att gå med på en uppgörelse.

"Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expounded on the ongoing Ukraine conflict, Russia's continued commitment to a politico-diplomatic settlement aimed at removing the root causes of the crisis, and the overal shift towards a multi-polar world order in an interview with the US magazine Newsweek on October 7.
Restoring peace is not part of Ukraine’s plan, while its Western patrons continue “playing with fire,” oblivious of the dangerous consequences, stressed Sergey Lavrov in the interview for Newsweek.
“Zelensky has not revoked his decree banning negotiations with Moscow. Washington and its NATO allies provide political, military and financial support to Kiev so that the war would go on. They are discussing authorizing the AFU to use Western long-range missiles to strike deep into Russian territory,” Lavrov explained.
Russia’s top diplomat emphasized that the February 2014 agreement was ripped up by the US-backed opposition, then the Minsk accords were sabotaged and subsequently revealed to have never been fulfilled by Ukraine’s patrons, and finally the 2022 Istanbul agreements were “not signed by Zelensky at the insistence of his Western supervisors, in particular, the then British prime minister [Boris Johnson].”

Lavrov reiterated the prerequisites for a settlement listed by Russian President Vladimir Putin:
-complete withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the DPR, LPR, and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions
recognition of territorial realities as enshrined in the Russian constitution
-neutral, non-bloc, non-nuclear status for Ukraine; its demilitarization and de-Nazification
securing the rights, freedoms, and interests of Russian-speaking citizens
-removal of all sanctions against Russia.

Since Ukraine’s Western patrons seek to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia, “we have no choice but to continue our special military operation until the threats posed by Ukraine are removed,” Lavrov stressed, adding that Russia “will take adequate decisions based on [its] understanding of the threats posed by the West.”"

VIENNA, October 7. /TASS/. Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi has condemned any attacks on employees of nuclear plants and threats to them as unacceptable.

"Pillar 3 states that ‘the operating staff must be able to fulfil their safety and security duties and have the capacity to make decisions free of undue pressure,’" the agency cited Grossi as saying. "Any targeting of employees of nuclear power plants would constitute a blatant violation of this pillar fundamental for overall nuclear safety and security."

"In addition, any statements indicating further retaliatory measures - potentially affecting staff of the Zaporozhye NPP - would be unacceptable and contrary to the safety pillars established by the IAEA," he stressed.

A senior security officer of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, Andrey Korotky, was killed in a car bomb explosion in Energodar on October 4. According to investigators, a bomb that was planted under his car parked hear his house went off when he got inside. He died of wounds in hospital. A criminal case was initiated by the Russian Investigative Committee’s Zaporozhye Region Department."
