Disney presented its investors and the press with a fresh look at Marvel's Loki on Thursday, revealing the first trailer footage, plot details, and casting information on the forthcoming Disney+ series, and a release date window of May 2021.
The show, which has Rick and Morty's Michael Waldron serving as showrunner, is expected to run for six episodes in early 2021. The series sees Loki make appearances throughout human history, influencing historical events. It will tie into the events to be depicted in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. The series is directed by Kate Herron, who previously revealed, "We’re taking Loki to an entirely new part of the MCU."
The show brings back Tom Hiddleston as the god of mischief but not as the version of Loki we saw die at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War but rather as his earlier, more malevolent self from 2012's The Avengers who absconded with the Tesseract during one of the time heists in Avengers: Endgame. Got all that?!
