My question remains. Why do you expect special treatment? I've visitied your country countless times and have followed the rules to a T. Why do you expect to be treated like royalty after your whoopsie?

The situation is different. People don't realize that the visa regulations for UK & Great Brittain is separate from the rest of Europe and assume that their UK visa is "good" in the rest of Europe as well. It's further fucked because UK citizens don't need a visa to visit the rest of EU so when you're studying in the country you're living with people who travel within EU all the time.

I know a guy from the US who was in a similar situation. He figured honesty would be key. Ended with schengen blacklist for x years, and since his wife was mid US visa application they were unable to meet in either regions.

Showing your passport anywhere in Sweden will have consequences. Your safest bet is a probably a rubber boat back to the UK.

Call the embassy anonymously and ask if there's a way you can get away with this if you go there and explain the situation.

Don't voluntarily give them what they need to blacklist you. Don't go to the embassy.

What I do know is that I had a friend from Chile who overstayed by 2 weeks in a similar whoopsie like yours and she tried her luck at the airport and got slapped with a hefty fine and got a stamp in her passport basically banning her from entering Schengen for X amount of years.

To try your luck is the best thing you can do in this situation.
She would have ended up with that stamp in her passport if she had gone to the embassy anyway.

It's 90 days within any period of 180 days. So leaving Schengen and returning 10 days later doesn't reset the visa according to the law, but in practice, this is a difficult policy to enforce.

How did it go? Trouble?

..................text............. Has anyone driven between Denmark and Germany/Germany and Belgium in the last few days? Was border control in operation? We were able to get from Copenhagen to Brussels and then on to Calais in December with no checks, so that gives me hope. ............text............. Thank you.

Have driven car lots of times from Sweden to Germany via Denmark (Öresund Bridge Malmö-Copenhagen / Rödyby-Puttgarden) and can not remember there was any control of passports, on the other hand back into Sweden there are "harder" controls but still incredibly slack.

It is of course changed in times of increased terrorist threat when temporary border controls in the EU are temporarily established, the last time I happened to find this was several years ago between the border with Austria and Germany.

Experience that the UK has significantly tougher border controls at the airports, has never driven a car or ferry to the UK
