Förra året blev en pluton U.S. Green Berets tillsammans med nigerianska soldater utsatta för ett bakhåll av Islamiska staten utanför Tongo Tongo i Nigeria. Det blir kaos och de amerikanska elitsoldaterna börjar bekämpa IS i tron det var anfallna av en mindre enhet. De blir överrumplade och splittras flyr i panik. 3 av dem blir dödade direkt medan en ensam flyr iväg och blir skjuten på flykten och liket hittas först 2 dagar senare.

Three Green Berets were killed in the ambush: Staff Sgt. Bryan C. Black, Staff Sgt. Jeremiah W. Johnson, and Staff Sgt. Dustin M. Wright. Sgt. La David Johnson was initially declared missing. His body was found dead two days later by a Nigerien search party, about 850 meters away from the secondary defense position the convoy had taken. Militants had stripped Johnson of his boots and gear, but he was killed from a distance, the Pentagon said. His body had been shot more than 20 times. källa

The following footage is from the helmet camera of a Special Forces soldier caught in the infamous ambush in Niger that occurred on October 4th of last year. The footage illustrates some hard facts and dispels many myths about the ambush that had not previously been brought to light. The attack happened extremely fast, as most ambushes do, and created a chaotic scenario for the men caught in it.
The video is very hard to watch but serves to educate anyone who does not fully grasp the reality of war, violence and combat. The men were outnumbered and once fire superiority was lost due to the nature and execution of the ambush, the situation quickly began to deteriorate. The team was caught out in the open with only their (unarmored) vehicles and what looks to be a B6 Land Cruiser (armored) to use as cover and the militants were dispersed throughout a tree line in greater numbers.
