BMW återkallar en miljon bilar

Problemet med en del av bilarna som biltillverkaren nu väljer att kalla tillbaka är en felkoppling i fläktsystemet som reglerar luftkonditioneringen i BMW 3-serien och som kan orsaka brand. Men i sällsynta fall, uppger företaget i ett uttalande.

BMW kallar även tillbaka vissa modeller som tillverkats mellan 2007 och 2011 och har en sexcylindrig motor. Felet uppges där vara ett tillverkningsfel som kan leda till överhettning.

Det är bilar i Nordamerika som nu återkallas på grund av felen men enligt Michael Rebstock kan företaget inte utesluta att detta även kan komma att bli aktuellt för andra marknader.

It is recalling 312,000 vehicles: the BMW 1 Series, the 3 Series, the Z4 and its X1 petrol and diesel models made between March 2007 and August 2011

BMW said it had worked with the DVSA and rejected suggestions it had ignored instructions or provided incorrect information.

An inquest revealed that the carmaker had received complaints of an electrical issue that caused a total power failure as early as 2011.

BMW recalled 500,000 cars in the US in 2013, as well as in Australia, Canada and South Africa.
