Citat:
My own parents exhibit those qualities. They truly love each other (almost 50 years now) and you can see that there isn't even a question in their minds. But they are from a different era, born in the 40's. My Dad was always the traditional breadwinner and my Mom was the traditional housewife. I guess deep down I'd like to find that sort of love my parents have - my Dad isn't even romantic either, but my Mom never complains - there is no sense of 'entitlement' there. My current gf complains that I'm not romantic enough sometimes (she's probably right that I'm not like most modern men in that sense).
But things are different, gender roles are ill-defined and it's making people unhappy. Females are getting constant validation through social media, there is no structure or cohesion in society to shame sluts and douchebags - people aren't accountable. It's just complete chaos - I think the girl I have is the closest I'll get - she has a certain sense of 'entitlement' though, not bad, it's just there. I'm figuring out if I'm willing to participate in this mess or not. I'd love to find what my parent's have, but it may never happen and I've come to terms with it.
It's so sad the place that society has gotten to. People don't know what makes them truly happy. Feminist complain about gender roles, but the reality is that men are happiest providing resources and women are happiest nurturing and caring for children (in the general case).
