Secrets — even long-buried ones, the best kind — have a way of revealing themselves in Tom Ford’s films. Though the fashion designer is only on his second feature, the Amy Adams- and Jake Gyllenhaal-starring thriller “Nocturnal Animals,” the blossoming filmmaker has already established his own sense of tone, and it’s one that traffics in the unseen and perhaps nefarious.
The Venice Film Festival has now offered up a quick look at “Animals,” featuring a somewhat unnerved Adams revealing the meaning behind the film’s title — kind of — as she tells a coworker about her possibly scary ex-husband (played by Gyllenhaal), who has recently come back into her life via a book he’s penned, titled, you guessed it, “Nocturnal Animals.”
