Two teammates from Team McGregor on “The Ultimate Fighter 22” will fight at the UFC’s upcoming return to London.
Although the Swedish fighters didn’t competed at the show’s recent live finale, “TUF 22” lightweight quarterfinalists Martin Svensson (14-5 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and David Teymur (3-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) have been booked for a fight at UFC Fight Night 83.
UFC Fight Night 83 takes place Feb. 27 at The O2 in London. U.S. broadcast/streaming plans have yet to be revealed. An official headliner hasn’t been announced, though middleweights Michael Bisping (27-7 MMA, 17-7 UFC) and Gegard Mousasi (37-6-2 MMA, 4-3 UFC) could fill the role.
Svensson earned a decision victory over Mohamed Gabinski to make the “TUF 22” cast and then submitted Thanh Le to make it to the quarterfinals, but a broken elbow forced him out of the tournament. The 30-year-old Cage Warriors vet, who earned a 2014 decision victory over David Hill in most recent official bout, now makes his octagon debut.
He takes on Teymur, who defeated Thanh Le and Johnny Nunez via decision to make the “TUF 22” quarterfinals, where he ultimately lost to Marcin Wrzosek via majority decision. Outside of the “TUF” exhibition bouts, the 26-year-old is riding a three-fight winning streak in official bouts.
