Vad jag vet så finns Karl XII's sadel i Livrustkammaren? eller är det fältsadeln dom fick tag i?
Detta är vad bildtexten anger om sadeln :
Turkey (?), the late XVIIth - early XVIIIth century.
Wood, velvet, silver, colour stones, silver embroidery, carving, engraving.
The State Hermitage Museum.
The saddle of wood, covered with a biscuit velvet, is trimmed with silver embroidery and fringe; silver figured plates with insets of colour stones are sewn onto the velvet; the front arch is crowned with a golden knob; the saddle girth of textile fabric is completed with buckles; gilded iron stirrups are decorated with silver embossed pieces in the form of masks; the saddle cloth of the same velvet is embroidered in silver thread and trimmed with fringe and silver pieces; the wooden holsters are covered with velvet; velvet sheeting are decorated with silver embroidery and decorative pieces.
On the day of the Victory at Poltava the horse of King of Sweden and its saddle were granted by Peter I to his field marshal, count B. Sheremetev. In the Sheremetevs' mansion-house this saddle has been kept for over 200 years.
