The Russian Embassy declared that 4 of its citizens, caught in Dammaj area North Yemen, were killed and that the embassy is still seeking to evacuate others still caught in the same area. Russia Today TV channel stated that the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexandar Locavich said that the Russian Embassy in Sana’a was seeking to evacuate a group of Russian citizens caught in Dammaj area, pointing that the Russians were studying in a religious center and were not able to return home due to the besiege imposed on Dammaj by tribal militias. As the spokesman did not indicate the number of the Russian students caught in Yemen, he stated that 4 were killed in clashes in Dammaj.
The Russian students did not want to tell their Embassy of their situation, but Russian diplomats will make every effort to return the Russian citizens to their home and support them, Locavich added.
He also said that Russia Ministry of Foreign Affairs re-urged Russian people to not travel to Yemen because of the continual critical situation there.
