1971 Sweden, April 7: Miro Baresic and another Ustasa-supporter takes the Yugoslavian ambassador hostage at the embassy in Stockholm. They tie a rope to his neck around a chair, fire shots against his head and body until he bleeds and chokes to death. First terror act on Swedish soil by foreigners made this deed become very big in the media.
1975 Sweden, West Germany, April 24: West German embassy siege. RAF occupies West Germany's embassy in Stockholm, and blows up the building before surrendering to the Swedish police.
1979 Norway, United States, Israel, July: Norwegian police prevents terrorist attacks against the U.S. and Israeli embassies in Oslo.
1985 July 22: Two near-simultaneous bombs in Copenhagen, at the Jewish synagogue and at the offices of Northwest Orient, explode, killing one and injuring 32. The bombers are interrupted while placing a third, more powerful, bomb, which they later dispose of in the city's harbour. The bombs are later linked to Islamic Jihad.

1992 Danmark Nørrebro: March 16: A bomb goes off in the office of Internationale Socialister (International Socialists), Søllerødgade in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, killing party member Henrik Christensen. The case remains unsolved, but the act has been attributed to Neo-Nazi movements.
2000 Copenhagen. Boris Zhilko, a Russian diplomat, was injured when a bottle containing an incendiary mixture was thrown into the Russian Consular Office in Copenhagen. The attacker was detained and claimed he attacked the embassy "in response to Russia's actions in Chechnya."[12]
2003 Sweden: Foreign Minister Anna Lindh dies in the early morning of September 11, 2003, following a knife attack in Stockholm on the afternoon of September 10. Mijailo Mijailović is later arrested and sentenced for the assassination. Mijailović is said to have been greatly angered by Lindh's staunch support for the U.S.-led military campaign against Serbia.
2006 Norway: A person fires with an automatic weapon on a synagoge in Oslo at night. On March 25, 2008, the trial against Arfan Bhatti (29), of Pakistani origin, and two others (one Norwegian and one of Turkish origin) will begin, accused for the responsibility for the attack and for plots to attack the U.S. and Israeli embassies in Oslo.[28][29][30]
2007 Eight men with alleged links to leading senior Al Qaeda terrorists are arrested, the country's intelligence service said, claiming to have thwarted a bomb plot. The arrests occur without incident in raids on eleven locations in and around Copenhagen. The suspects are of Afghan, Pakistani, Somali, and Turkish origin.[91]
2008 Helsinki. Finnish police say an Embassy employee was injured in an arson attack on the Turkish embassy building in central Helsinki. Officers said the front door was burned in the attack and the fire spread indoors before it was extinguished by fire fighters. The early morning attack came hours after a peaceful anti-Turkey protest the day before outside the embassy by a few dozen Kurdish demonstrators. Police said four men had been detained on suspicion of the attack, and that the attack could have been politically motivated and that some of the men had a Turkish-Kurdish background.[229]
2010 Aarhus, Denmark In an incident said to be terror-related, a Somali man broke into Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard's home threatening to kill the man with an axe. Westergaard escaped harm when he entered a panic room and called for police, who shot the man. According to the Danish intelligence agency PET, the Somali man is affiliated with al-Shaabab, a radical Islamic militia currently in Somalia.[2]
2010 Copenhagen, Denmark In an incident suggested to be terror-related aimed at Danish newspaper Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten's office in Aarhus,[103] a man of Chechnyan origin[104] allegedly caused an explosion in the basement of a Copenhagen hotel. After the unsuccessful attack, the perpetrator fled to the nearby H.C. Ørstedsparken, where he was caught by the Danish police. The police feared the that man had an undetonated bomb in his backpack and avoided coming near the man, until the detonation machine known as "Rullemarie", shot at the backpack to confirm that the content was harmless.[105]
2010 Two explosions occurred in the capital city of Stockholm, one triggered by a car bomb and another suicide bomb which likely killed the assailant. The bombings have been linked to e-mail threats over Swedish involvment in the War in Afghanistan and the ongoing Muhammed cartoon controversy.[121]
