Citat:
THQ Nordic has today announced the acquisition of the Kingdoms of Amalur IP, the deal finalised with developer 38 Studios, allowing the publisher to create new games in the long-dormant action RPG series. Released in 2012 under EA, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was poised to be the next big RPG thing, but disappointing sales saw the series canned and 38 Studios closed down.
A Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning 2 had been in development as an MMORPG codenamed 'Copernicus' some time after the first game shipped, and the THQ Nordic deal also covers the acquisition of the Amalur sequel "based on the abandoned MMORPG project 'Copernicus'," the official announcement confirms.
Should THQ Nordic's acquisition of the Amalur IP mean a Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning sequel is in the pipeline, here's hoping it adopts the Destiny system once again, and that same strain of intense, customisable combat. You can check out our Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning review here.
