4. The WAR universe (top)
Will WAR be based on the Warhammer Fantasy or Warhammer 40,000 universe?
WAR will deal solely with the world of Warhammer fantasy.
Does the Age of Reckoning take place before, after, or instead of the Storm of Chaos?
Matt Daniels, Mythic’s lead writer said: "The Age of Reckoning is set in the "modern" Warhammer world. This is the world in which Karl Franz is the Emperor in Altdorf, Finubar sits upon the Phoenix Throne, and the High King of the Dwarfs is Thorgrim Grudgebearer. That's as specific as we’re going to get, in order to allow ourselves the maximum creative flexibility in developing the game.”
Do I need to be familiar with the Warhammer Fantasy Battles or Fantasy Role-play games in order to play the MMO?
While WAR is set firmly in the Warhammer world, you do NOT need to be familiar with the existing games in order to enjoy the MMO. Warhammer Online will provide you with all of the background information you will need to comprehend the setting and storyline, and become familiar with the various races and characters in the game.

Where will WAR take place geographically?
The game will take place in three main areas of conflict. Orcs and Dwarfs will be fighting over the Badlands and the Worlds Edge Mountains, the Elven races will be fighting over the island of Ulthuan, and the Empire and the forces of Chaos will be fighting over the northern reaches of the Empire. The exact extent of each area is unknown.
How many sides are there?
Currently there are two opposing sides, each of which is broken up into 3 seperate armies. These are the Elfs, Dwarfs, Empire Humans, Chaos Humans, Dark Elfs & Greenskins. Each army has it's own capital and starting location.
How many zones will the world consist from?
Each area of conflict will be divided into 11 zones (making 33 in total at launch), with four tiered levels. Each tier will have three zones: one each for the two sides and a neutral area in the centre. There will also be a zone containing the capital city for each race.
5. Player death (top)
Are there any death penalty?
When you die you lose fate points. If you have run out of fate points you will be dealt a skill penalty. The skills will slowly regain their former glory with time.
What are fate points?
Fate points are like lives. Saved up they allow you to regain the battle without skill penalty or lengthy downtime.
Does death in pvp result in item loss?
There will be no loss of items for the defeated player.
Will there be long corpse runs?
There will be no long corpse runs, ever.
6. Races and Classes (top)
What races can we play?
At launch for the Alliance of Order the playable armies will be Empire (Humans), High Elves and Dwarves. For the Alliance of Destruction, Dark Elves, Chaos Humans and Greenskins (Orcs & Goblins) will make up the armies.
How are the races divided into factions?
Humans will be pitted against the Chaos Humans, High Elves verses the Dark Elves and Dwarves against the combined forces of the Orcs and Goblins in a struggle to supremacy.
What classes are there for players to choose from?
There will not be a traditional class system. Each player character will begin as one of two archetypes, Fighter and Adept. Fighter represents the melee classes, and Adept is for the magical and academic classes. As your character progresses you may choose future career steps either in the same direction as your original choice, to create a "pure" character, or in the direction of a different career, creating what is known as a "hybrid".
Can any race become any career?
No. Some careers are race specific.
Will the forces of Order be able to talk with the forces of Destruction?
Unlikely. True inter-realm communication will not be possible.
Will the six announced races be the only playable races, or will you add others?
Yes, other races will be added in the future through the release of expansions to the game.
7. Realms (top)
Will there be a role-play server?
Yes, Mythic will have RP servers.
8. Combat and RvR (top)
What type of RvR system will there be?
While the entire game will revolve around the overall RvR war, the core of RvR combat will be made up of four types of encounters, including skirmishes, battlefields, scenarios, and campaigns.
What are skirmishes, battlefields, scenarios and campaigns?
Skirmishes are where two people or groups or whatever stumble upon each other in the middle of a PvP zone and start fighting.
Battlefields: these are basically hotspots in a PvP area to which players will naturally be drawn. For example, there'll be a ruined Dwarf village that may have some resources that are valuable to both sides. Players will be fighting to control these resources.
Scenarios are instanced open RvR combat. The battles here are quick, repeatable, last about five or ten minutes, and will be objective-based, using many of the basic paradigms of CTF, Deathmatch, King of the Hill, et al. The overall victor of a scenario will gain control of the entire zone (Skirmishes and Battlefield victories will come into play).
The Campaign is at the heart of the game. In the fourth tier of zones lies a capital city for each front, and the objective, as you may imagine, is to take over the opponent's capital and kill the leader and everyone else there (via scenarios). Afterward the victors will retain control for some arbitrary time, say 24 hours, during which they may pillage and plunder to their hearts' content. After that period of time, the game rebalances, forces you out of the city, and resets ownership of all the different maps, and the battle begins anew.
Is it required to participate in PvP combat in order to complete the game?
No, a player will be able to “complete” the game via PvE content if they choose to do so. However, they will be missing what we consider to be some of the most enjoyable aspects of the game.
9. Quests (top)
Will players be able to solo in the game?
Yes, it is Mythic's goal is to make a game that is accessible to people that wish to play solo.
What type of quests will be available?
Public quests, branching quests, kill collector type quests and Christmas quests.
What is the difference between public quests and Christmas quests?
Public quests take place in an epicenter, you'll be taking and turning in quests, buying and selling, but you'll also see a public quest in which you and your entire faction can take part..
Christmas quests are usually far off the beaten path, they may require little to no effort and offer huge rewards. The goal is to encourage players to branch out and explore all the areas off the beaten path.
10. Items and Crafting (top)
Will there be crafting system?
Yes. In fact, this is one of the systems Mythic is aiming to make 'revolutionary'. All major crafting skills are geared to the waging of battles both on the large and small scale.
Will all races be able to craft?
Yes, there will be crafting systems in place for all races.
11. Skills and Spells (top)
What are Tactics?
Tactics are abilities and bonuses which are chosen before entering into a fight. Each character will have a Strategy bar with a certain amount of slots, into which the chosen Tactics are added. As characters advance they can increase the number of slots on their Strategy bar and gain new Tactics. Different tactics may use different a different amount of slots in their strategy bar.
What is Morale for?
Morale skills are learned as characters advance according to their career. Once a fight has started a character's Morale meter starts to fill up if the fight is going well or if they are part of a large group. Morale can also decrease for losing fights. Once the Morale meter has filled up enough, players can use Morale skills to have an effect on the fight.
